Development / Processing Time
For normal permanent colour => about 40 minutes
If doing white/grey hair coverage or more resistant hair, may require up to ~50 minutes
For pastel / metallic lighter tones, shorter times can apply depending on desired intensity and hair porosity (15-20 minutes for pastel metallics)
Application Instructions
Skin test / Patch test 48 hours before you colour to check for allergic reactions.
Apply to dry, unwashed hair unless otherwise specified.
Mix the colour tube and the appropriate cream developer (volumes depend on the ratio above) until you get a smooth creamy consistency.
Apply the mixture to mid-lengths and ends first, then to the roots if needed. This helps even absorption and avoids excess processing at the roots.
Keep the hair saturated with product and allow to process for the full time. Use gentle heat if recommended by the brand / salon protocol.
After processing, rinse thoroughly. Use appropriate after-color care (conditioner, colour-safe shampoo etc.). (While this is common in usage instructions, specific post-care may vary.)
Developer Strengths
Available in multiple developer strengths: 5 Vol, 10 Vol, 20 Vol, 30 Vol, 40 Vol, depending on how much lift (lightening) or deposit is desired.
5 Vol is used for long-lasting semi-permanent or subtle tone enhancement.
Higher volumes (30-40 Vol) used when wanting more lift (especially with Superlights/Überblondes) or lightening.
